COLOUR 
Full rich red with attractive crimson highlights.

BOUQUET 
Complex layers of rich cassis and dark berry fruit through a combination of French and American Oak.

PALATE 
The palate has lovely wild berry characters. Medium body in style, the wine has excellent fruit sweetness, elegance, long, soft tannins and a persistent flavour. 

FOOD SUGGESTIONS
This wine will accompany any meat or full flavoured vegetarian dish and would suit Italian food superbly.

CELLARING POTENTIAL 
Drinking well now though can be cellared for a few years

WINEMAKING NOTES  
Hamilton Block Cabernet Sauvignon is crafted to a fruit forward style where oak plays a diminutive role to the flavours of the grape. The style to which we are striving is typically medium bodied with ripe fruit and soft tannins to make it approachable on release and with a medium term cellaring potential. 
 
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Hamilton Block is produced by Leconfield Wines from its estate vineyards. Leconfield is situated in the heart of Australia’s famous Coonawarra with its rich Terra Rosa soil over limestone providing the ideal environment for growing premium Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard was founded in 1974 by pioneering oenologist Sydney Hamilton who at 76 years of age had the ambition to produce the classic Australian red wine.  Time has validated his choice of Coonawarra as a fantastic place to do just that.  Today the estate remains a family wine busines owned by Dr Richard and Jette Hamilton and is planted predominantly to Cabernet Sauvignon with smaller patches of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz, Petit Verdot and complimented with the white varieties of Riesling, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.

OAK MATURATION
12 months maturation in French and American oak. 25% New French Oak, 8% 1 Year Old French Oak, 8% 2 year old French Oak, 8% 2 year old American Oak, 12% 3 Year Old French Oak, 4% 3 Year Old American Oak, 18% 4 Year Old French Oak, 4% 4 Year Old American Oak, 8% 5 Year Old French Oak, 4% 5 Year Old American Oak.
